What I Love Part II

Just some random things I love right now about:

Kennedy:

She is playing soccer!!!!!!!  Is it bad to hope that she loves it as much as I did?

 [This was her first practice.  She was a little timid and didn't quite know what to do, but by the end she was feeling much more confident.  She tried to styme a smile when they did a team cheer at the end.  She loves being part of a team].

 [Her first game.  Earlier that week when I asked her if she was excited about her first came coming up, she said, "Yes, and a little nervous."  When I told her it was normal to feel nervous about doing something new, she said, "I know, mom, besides, it will be like reading.  I used to only know a few letters and sounds, and now I'm a great reader!"  You're right, Kennedy.  By the end of her first game she was again acting more confident about the whole thing.]

She likes to be silly. I think in this photo she told me to take a picture of her, "because this is how I eat!"


Ahh, the love this girl has for books. Books have become one of her favorite things, and it makes me so happy inside to watch her love of reading. We have a lot of fun after she finishes a book discussing what were her favorite parts. Her Aunt Amy sent up a whole bag of books for her to borrow, and she has been devouring them one by one.


She is a great friend to others. The girl on the left is our new neighbor. As soon as Kennedy saw her outside playing she went right up to her and introduced herself and asked if she wanted to play. She gets along with just about anyone.

 One windy spring day she was begging me to fly a kite.  I was feeling so tired and worn out, but I relented because I knew these are the memories kids take with them when they're all grown up.  So out we went, and it not only put a smile on her face, but mine as well. 

Kennedy's spring break project: plant the seeds for our garden.  She planted beans, giant sunflowers, Dparsley, and pumpkins.  It's been a lot of fun for her to watch them grow each day. 

Other random Kennedy happenings:
She created a "question bag".  When I asked her what it was for, she said, "in case we ever have a question about things, we can write it on a slip of paper and put it in here (a small paper bag).  The other day I looked inside to see what burning questions she had.  First up was, "how is wind created?" then, "why do we sneeze?" and finally, "will I ever like root beer?"  Brian got a kick out of that last question.  Root beer is his favorite.  So I wrote a question and put it in the bag for her to find, "why is Kennedy so cute and wonderful?"

During conference Kennedy asked me where our tithing money goes.  I explained that it went to help build churches and temples, but what I liked best is that it is used to help other people, such as in natural disasters or times of need.  We talked about the recent earth quake and tsunami in Japan, and the church's quick response with food, water, clothing, and hygeine items.  Later that day, she came to me with a mason jar, on which she'd written, "money for kids who need it."  She had put all of her change in the jar.  She also brought me about five of her shirts from last summer that were too small for her and told me she wanted to donate it to kids who need it.  She said she really hoped the shirts would end up in Japan.  Of course it made my heart swell with love for this little girl.  It made me reflect on how the scriptures tell us we need to become as a little child.  Kennedy has always had a special gift of compassion for others.  Maybe it's because of the experiences she's had with her brother Jake, but I think mostly it's just because that's how God created her.  I know this gift will help her throughout her life, and I think she'll do great things because of it.
